NICE TO MEET YA!

Chi-Chi Onuah (pronounced chee-chee / on-u-aw) is a Canadian-Nigerian actor, mover, and singer (B.A. Devised Theatre, York University). Fueled by her desire to see more Black artists take center stage, Chi-Chi aims to share her gifts with the world and boldly step into the spotlight.

Some of her favourite credits include playing Bianca (Othello/The Show Must Go Online), and the Trowel of Brightlake (Richard II/Dauntless City Theatre). Most recently, Chi-Chi completed the Actor Training Enhancement Program (TEPS) at Factory Theatre.

Trained as a devised theatre artist by some of Canada’s established theatre practitioners like Michael Greyeyes, Gwenyth Dobie, and Ian Garrett, Chi-Chi’s approach to the arts is very well-rounded. Her skills range from freestyle staff spinning (beginner) to accent work (British RP, beginner), and beyond. Her love of music and her passion for indie-folk musicals like Hadestown and Once have inspired Chi-Chi to re-learn violin (beginner) and continue piano (intermediate).

Knowing that she is a student for life, Chi-Chi Onuah is always up for a new challenge to help show how the world could be, as well as continue her journey into becoming an artist, and human, that she can be proud of.

Fun Fact! Chi-Chi’s favourite quote comes from Josie Bisset: Dreams come in a size too big so that we may grow into them
